How To Get The Most From Podcamp Nashville

How To Get The Most From Podcamp Nashville

If you don’t have plans on April 14, 2012, you should stop by Podcamp Nashville. This free event is a great way to make contacts in the tech world and also learn some really cool stuff as well. We don’t get many really cool events around here. This will be my first time attending and I even get to speak.

I want to share some tips with you to make this event profitible for you while you are there and when you are gone.

1. Choose sessions that impact you right now – Learning is a lot of fun and exciting. However, we must remember that for most of us, being involved in the tech business is just that…business.

To become successful in business, you need to balance learning and earning. Choose sessions that you can learn something from and then implement as soon as possible. Have a purpose when deciding on the sessions. Even if you only go to one or two sessions, you will get more out of the event this way.

2. Network – I should put a star by this one. I am living proof that one good connection can change your life. People refer to me as the most connected man on the Internet . With each person you meet, you just never know the opportunity that awaits you. At Podcamp Nashville, have your business cards ready. You are going to meet some really cool people that can take your business to the next level.

When meeting fellow attendees, It is great to pass out your business card but it is MORE important for YOU to snatch up others business card/contact information because as you probably already know, most people drop the ball on the follow up. If you will get their information, then you can be the action taker and follow up yourself.

What I am doing is taking it a step further and putting my new contacts into my SendOutCards account to keep in touch with them. I have a running contact list of 100 people who I stay in contact with. When you do that, you tend to always have new business coming in each month.

These are just a couple of tips to help you get the most out of Podcamp Nashville. Make sure you sign up for my session because I am bringing the good stuff in my session. :-)

This post is part of the blog tour. The previous post was Why I can’t wait for PodCamp Nashville.

Update: Here is a link to my Podcamp Nashville 2012 Presentation if you couldn’t make it to the event. It was awesome.
